Pomegranate Super Food Green Smoothie Recipe
/Did you know one pomegranate contains nearly 20% of your daily dose of vitamin C? Other reasons pomegranates are a powerhouse fruit:
- Rich in three different antioxidants
- Seeds are a great source of fiber, up to 25% in one pomegranate
- Nutrient dense: high in vitamin K, manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, zinc and iron
- Low in fat + no cholesterol
Even more powerful when combined with lemon + apple.
AND it's perfect for the holidays aka cold season.
The only thing not pictured is the lemonade coconut water. I only used a little of it to add some flavor because it has sugar. I like to stick to plain filtered water as a base to avoid the extra sugar and calories. The lemon flavor was totally worth it, though. You could sub fresh or bottled lemon juice instead.
I basically can't do anything without having some kind of incident. Thankfully I had extra smoothie, and this was much better than, say, dropping my camera or breaking the mason jar. (I have battle wounds from kitchen misadventures).
Pomegranate Super Food Green Smoothie Recipe
Handful of spinach leaves Scoop of Green SuperFood powder Lemonade coconut water (or fresh lemon/bottled lemon juice) Filtered water Tbsp flax seed 1 apple (I used a honeycrisp) 3/4 cup pomegranate seeds
Directions: Put handful of spinach leaves in blender and fill with about 1-2 inches of lemonade coconut water (enough to blend the leaves into liquid). Add flax seed and green powder at this stage. Blend until all is liquid. Add apple pieces + pomegranate seeds. Add enough filtered water to blend the rest into smoothie consistency.
If you have a nice blender like a Vitamix, I imagine you can just shove everything in and blend away.
What's your go-to cold fighting or prevention method?
